Care
Thanks for making us a part of your home!
Your new Y|S cutting board is handcrafted with woods native to New England. Woods are natural, porous and subject to wear.
Scarring and drying will occur with normal use. Depending on what you cut on your board, staining may also occur.
Don’t panic. Your board just requires a little upkeep.
Below are some tips to help keep your new Y|S cutting board looking its best:

Get Started
To get started, gently wash your board before using it for the first time.
Wash
To wash, the best method is to hand wash your board in lukewarm water with a light-duty soap. Avoid heavy soaps, detergents and scrubbing with an abrasive sponge or pad. Pat dry.
Never wash in the dishwasher. Bad idea.
Preventative Maintenance
To lengthen your board’s life, give it some extra love once a month. Use a light coat of cutting board oil. This helps prevent your board from drying and cracking, will help keep its original shine, and will keep its grain exposed. If you run out of oil, we have you covered. You can Reorder right here.
Addressing Stains & Scars
To remove stains, start by gently washing and drying the board. With a clean, lint-free cloth apply cutting board oil in a circular motion until the stain has been removed.
To remove scars, start with a clean and dry board. Lightly sand your board with 220-grit sandpaper. After sanding, remove all dust with a clean cloth and apply a light coat of our cutting board and butcher block oil with a clean, lint-free cloth. Allow to sit for 24 hours, remove excess oil, and buff with a clean cloth.
Most Importantly
Most importantly, enjoy the food you prepare, the time you share and the memories you make!
